Compound Growth to $1 Billion
How long your money would take to reach a billion at a given return, with yearly additions.
How it works
Each year the balance grows by your return and then adds your yearly addition: balance = balance × (1 + return) + addition. The calculator counts the years to $1 million, $10 million, $100 million and $1 billion.
The default 10% return is near the S&P 500 long-run average annual total return since 1926 (NYU Stern, Damodaran historical returns). Past returns do not predict future returns.
Quick answers
What return does the calculator assume?
10% a year by default, near the S&P 500 long-run average since 1926. You can change it.
