Sources Policy

This page explains where our information comes from and how we show it.

Interview transcripts

Our main source is our own interview recordings and transcripts. Each interview page links to its video where one exists. Quotes are copied word for word from the transcript.

Wealth and billionaire status

Billionaire status comes from one of two sources: Richard C. Wilson's own confirmation, or a dated Forbes or Bloomberg listing. When we cite Forbes or Bloomberg, we name the source, link to it and give the date. Net worth changes daily, so we link out instead of printing our own figure.

Public facts and statistics

Counts, rankings and other public numbers come from named sources such as Forbes, Bloomberg, government data and company filings. Each fact links to its source and shows the date.

Charts and calculators

Every chart shows its source on the image. Every calculator lists its formula and data sources on the page. Calculators are for education and are not financial advice.

What we do not use as sources

We do not rely on anonymous posts, user-edited wikis or AI-generated text as a source for facts about a person.

Talk library

Talks by billionaires that we did not record link to the original public video and are credited to their publisher.
